Buying a home is a major milestone in any person’s life, especially if you’re about to become a first-time homeowner. When you prepare to purchase your first house, you’ll be exposed to a brand new world of homeowner’s insurance, inspections, mortgage rates and so forth. But what about inspections for pests, specifically termites? Are termite inspections required when you’re preparing to purchase a new home?
Knowing the costly impact termites can have on a home, it’s almost always recommended to be conducted on a home whether you are buying a home or you currently own one. If you currently own your home it is recommended you have your home inspected for termites annually.
Termites may be small, but they typically live in large colonies and, as the saying goes, there’s strength in numbers. It’s also possible to go years without knowing that they’re silently destroying your home.
Your certified Termite Inspection will be a visual inspection and will look for these common signs or termite infestation:
- termite swarmers on exterior walls
- shed swarmer wings littered on window sills or your back deck
- mud tubes on exterior foundation walls or interior walls
- winged insects underneath mulch or other wood products in your yard
- warped windows
- sloping floors
- bulging walls
- doors that don’t open
- swarmers on interior walls
- clicking sounds inside your walls
Every home should be protected from termites. If your buying your home or your current home is not yet protected by year-round termite service from a certified inspector, you should have one done annually to make sure your equity isn’t being eaten away.
Our termite inspector will provide a detailed report with pictures of their findings and will be available to the customer 24 hours after the inspection.
